Standard Eye Care Exam
During an eye examination, several steps are taken to ensure comprehensive eye care. First, your medical history, medications, and any existing eye conditions are reviewed. Following this, a visual acuity test measures the sharpness of your vision using an eye chart. Next, a binocular vision assessment evaluates how well your eyes work together to provide a single, clear, and comfortable view of the world. A refraction assessment is then conducted to determine your prescription for glasses or contacts. The eye health evaluation involves examining eye structures with a slit lamp microscope. To screen for glaucoma, intraocular pressure is measured. Finally, the findings are reviewed, and recommendations for treatment or preventive care are discussed, including the selection of appropriate glasses or contact lenses.
